The Fish Society is the number 1 online fishmonger in the UK, established over 25 years ago. With over 200 kinds of seafood, they have delivered quality produce to over 100,00 homes in the UK.
The company had an idea to start an online recipe section on their website. The recipe section should contain 100s of recipes uploaded by both customers and the companys network of professional writers.
This was a new feature on the site and I was able to explore ideas of how we could bring this idea to life on the website.
From the initial brief given by the client, I first spent time carrying out some discovery work by looking at a variety of online recipe websites. This helped me to gauge the types of features available with this type of experience and explore what users might want to include in a recipe page.
I then held a workshop with the client and shared my findings with them. We had a collaborative session where we discussed ideas and features that could be included in the design.
Solutions and Designs
The designs I created included an initial landing page for the recipe section. This page centred around favourite recipes available, featured and seasonal recipes, category types and the ability to search by ingredient type.
Once the cusomter had selected a recipe to view they would be directed to the recipe detail page. On this would be an explanation of the recipe and associated details - such as prep time and cook time, step by step directions of how to cook the dish, relevant images or videos related to the cooking process and the ability to buy the main seafood ingredients.
